Volkswagen Group Rus will fully use the opportunities which provide the updated customs regime of «processing on the customs territory». It implies exemption from paying customs duties on the components which are used for production of vehicle assigned for export. With the recent amendments coming into force, stipulating cancellation of VAT and excise payment, the company will be able to increase its export to some noticeable volumes in 2018. Joint work within the framework of the signed agreement will be aimed at supporting effective cooperation with customs authorities and creating more transparent and simplified processes of information exchange.

Marcus Osegowitsch noted: «Volkswagen Group Rus became one of the biggest automotive exporters in Russia in 2017, effectively using all the export opportunities. Around 25 100 vehicles were exported in 2017, marking the increase by 70% in comparison with the last year. Further close cooperation with Federal Customs Services will allow us to increase our volumes both in car export and, which is even more important and prospective, component export».

The first export project realized in terms of «processing on the customs territory» regime will be the supply of produced in Kaluga 1.6 MPI engines to European and worldwide production sites in 2018. The planned volume of exported engines is 40,000 units per year. As a second export project, Volkswagen Group Rus will supply the ŠKODA OCTAVIA produced in Nizhniy Novgorod to European Union with initial volume of 10,000 cars.

Although Volkswagen Group Rus is the first company which will operate under optimized customs regime, the other automotive market players will be able to use the advantages of the «processing on the customs territory» regime, which will ultimately help the Russian automotive industry to better integrate into the global supply chains.
