Supplier Week at VOLKSWAGEN Group Rus’ Kaluga Plant
- VOLKSWAGEN Group Rus will hold a Supplier Week at its Kaluga plant from September 24 until 27, 2019
- The key objectives will be the search for the new car part localization partners, and the optimization of Volkswagen car production in Russia
- The representatives of 50 companies took part in the event
Kaluga, September 24, 2019. A Supplier Week organized by VOLKSWAGEN Group Rus started at the Grabtsevo Industrial Park in Kaluga. The current and potential suppliers will present their car part localization projects as well as projects for the optimization of the existing components’ production.
50 companies ready to supply their products to the Volkswagen plant in Russia participated in the Supplier Week. The current issues related to car part localization will be discussed in category groups, such as Interior, Exterior, Powertrains and Metal Components.
Governor of the Kaluga Oblast Anatoly Artamonov noted, “We are happy to have such a reliable partner as VOLKSWAGEN Group Rus in the region. The automotive cluster is a large segment of the economy of the Kaluga Oblast, and contracts with new component suppliers contribute to regional development.”
VOLKSWAGEN Group Rus invests in the development of not only the automotive industry in Russia but also in the car part industry as well. The company is always striving to increase the localization rate of its production in Russia and is interested in expanding the range of local components in its cars. It currently produces five models in Russia: the Volkswagen Tiguan, the Volkswagen Polo, the Škoda Rapid, the Škoda Octavia and the Škoda Kodiaq. It also manufactures a 1.6 MPI petrol engine in two versions, 90 and 110 hp. The production volume in 2018 amounted to 200,000 cars and 161,000 engines.
